Do I need high-res images for a book, and what does high-res mean?
It depends. E-books can look great with relatively low res images (72dpi – dots per inch, or digital equivalent). On the other hand, print books require images of at least 300dpi. Not sure about your images? I can check them out and let you know.
Does Page Turner actually print books?
No, Page Turner is a design service. I produce electronically formatted books ready for the printer (or e-book display program) of your choice. We should discuss your plans for your book in advance, to make sure the design meets their criteria.
What are your fees?
They vary depending on the project. For example, formatting a 25-50 page book with images and text, including 2-3 review sessions and revisions, typically costs $300-$400. Text and photo editing is extra, as is a longer book or additional revisions.
How long does the process take?
We will set a timeline for the project at the outset. The length of time depends on your schedule, the readiness of the materials, and the scope of the project.
Are all book projects right for Page Turner?
The Page Turner sweet spot is a 25-100 page visually rich book, with photos or illustrations on most pages. This could be an art or photo book, a portfolio, a ‘zine or graphic novel, a cookbook or children’s book, or scrapbook / photo album. There are other services and DIY options for projects like novels, biographies, etc.
Do you use AI?
No, my designs and advice are 100% human. I only use AI on occasional searches and possibly when troubleshooting tech glitches.
